ECB's Lautenschlaeger: Bond buying not seen near future

FXStreet (Bali) - European Central Bank executive board member Sabine Lautenschlaeger, speaking to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, said that he does not see the ECB embarking on bond-buying in the near future, Reuters reports.

Sabine expanded: “I absolutely do not see the purchase of government bonds on the horizon”, adding that the purchases of bonds would only be viable on extraordinary risks, saying “I really don’t see that right now”. Sabine also reiterated her criticism towards the ECB’s Outright Monetary Transaction (OMT) programme (still inactive).

ECB's Noyer: Risk of deflation seems avoided

ECB's policymaker Christian Noyer, in a speech at an economic conference in French city Aix-en-Provence on Saturday, said via Reuters, that it seems that the risk of deflation in the Eurozone has been avoided, even if inflation remains too low.
