Wall Street closes higher with the S&P at record high
FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - The US stocks market closed Thursday with gains as investors traded confidence on US recovery but with a eye on Cyprus. The Dow has posted its best quarter since 1998 after climbing 11% and the The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index closes all time high of 1,569.19.
The Dow Jones advanced 52.38 points or 0.36% to close the day at 14,578.54. As for the week, as market will remain close on Easter Friday, the DJIA advanced 0.46% and in the quarterly basis, the index rallied 11.25%.
The S&P 500 added 6.34 points or 0.41% to end the day at 1,569.19. On the week the index advanced 0.79% and on the first quarter, the S&P gained 10.03%.
The Nasdaq gained 11.00 points or 0.34% on the day to close at 3,267.52. The Composite added 0.69% on the week and 8.21% on the quarter, specially dragged by Apple which share declined 16.82% in the last three months since January 2nd.
